Louis Richard Savery was born on May 3, 1930 in Troy, New York. He is the only child of Richard and Elizabeth Savery.  He enlisted in the United States Army on December 12, 1952 and was assigned to the 1013th RC in Fort Devens, Massachusetts and later transferred to the 39th Infantry Regiment 9th Division in Fort Dix, New Jersey.

In July of 1953, Louis was deployed to Pusan, Korea where he served a fifteen-month tour of duty.  While in Korea, Louis was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  He also earned the Korean SVC Med, UN SVC MED, National DEF SVC MED, and the Presidential Unit Citation (ROK) DAGO 24 DTO.

Upon his Honorable Discharge on October 20, 1954, Louis returned to Troy, New York.  He worked at the Ford Motor Company  plant in Green Island, New for thirty-five years.  He retired in December 1984.

Louis was happily Dorothy Savery for fifty-three years.  They settled in Waterford, New York and raised their family.  Louis has three children: Timothy, Dawn and Linda.
