Frank Lavigne

Frank Lavigne, born 1927 in Cohoes, NY, was the son of Pearl and Alex Lavigne, brother to Leonard and Eileen. He served in the Navy from 1944-1946 aboard the aircraft carrier USS Boxer(CV-21) in the Asian Theater as a Coxswain. He retired from St.Gobain (Norton Company/Behr Manning) after 37 years of service as an abrasive forman. He was a member of the Halfmoon Fire Co., St Mary’s Church (crescent) and the Norton Foreman’s Association.  In 1980 he suffered a swimming pool accident that left him a quadriplegic. After spending 1½ year’s at the VA hospital in Newburgh, NY he returned home and survived 22 ½ years with the loving care of the VA system until his death in 2002. In 2001, he received his high school diploma in recognition as a World War ll veteran. He was married to Dorothy Jacon for 52 years and was survived by his four children, Catherine Spain, Thomas Lavigne, Richard Lavigne, and Bette McDonald. He also is survived by three grandchildern Mark and Jacob Spain and Megan McDonald. Frank and Dorthy Lavigne and family resided at Church Hill Road, Halfmoon since 1950.
