John Francis Galuski was born on January 20, 1950.  He was raised in Schaghticoke, NY by his Mother Helen; sister Pat and his grandparents.  He graduated from Hoosic Valley High School in June 1968.  He was drafted for service in the Army in September 1969.  He completed Basic Training at Fort Di, NJ.  He had advanced training at Fort Lewis, Washington competed training as a mortar man and infantryman.  He was deployed to Vietnam for 11 months and 2 days of intense jungle fighting.  He returned home to complete active duty at Fort Benning, Georgia.  He was honorably discharged in 1975.

John married Mary Djernes in 1978.  They had three great children; Matthew, Jacklyn and Patrick.  Before entering the service he worked for Albany Frosted Foods which was purchased and became Sysco Frosted Foods.  John worked after his release from the Army for the next 42 years and retired in 2012.  He worked as a fork lift operator, truck driver selector and supervisor.  He also represented the Teamsters Local 294 Union as shop steward.

John is proud of his service and role he played supporting his fellow soldiers and the United States of America.
