Ed was a lifelong resident of Halfmoon.  He was born in Mechanicville, NY in the doctor’s home in 1936.  He grew up on Fellows Road which was the old road to Mechanicville before Route 236 was built.

Ed went to 1st  through 6th  grade in the District #2 one room school, which was 500 plus steps from the back door of his house.  Seventh grade through 11th was in the Mechanicville School.  He was part of the first Senior Class to graduate from Shenendehowa Central School in 1954.  There were 30 students in the class.  He then went on to Cobleskill College.  In 1956 he enlisted in the Marine Corps.  His basic training was at Camp Lejeune, NC and he was later stationed at Cherry Point, NC.  He attained the rank of CPL and was a Message Center Man.  He also had a 3 month tour of duty to the Mediterranean.

After his active duty Ed worked for Behr-Manning which is now St.GoBain in Watervliet, NY for 28 years.  He was also the Assessor for the Town of Halmoon retiring in 2002 after 30 years.

He was married to Gladys Willsey from Lansingburgh for 54 years and raised 4 sons.  He was a grandfather to 4 granddaughters and 1 step-grandson.

The land that is now the Halfmoon Town Park was Ed’s Grandfathers and Grandmothers farm.  Sadly Ed passed away in 2014 but before his passing Ed and his wife enjoyed many walks in the park.  They also celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary Party in the Park.
