Raymond Henry Demers born June 28, 1923 in Cohoes, New York. Raymond left for the U.S. Army on January 19, 1943 and returned December 16, 1945. During WWII,

Ray was a Sergeant (Technician-4th Grade) and Radio Operator serving in Normandy France and Rhineland in the 225th Aircraft Artillery Searchlight Battalion. The Battalion assignments included the defense of airports, seaports and bridges in the European Theater and it was dispersed across as many as three countries at one time, with action from Omaha Beach through V-E Day, in their march across France, Belgium, Luxembourg and deep into Germany with the Allied armies. Upon his discharge, he was employed by Knolls Atomic Power Lab/ General Electric Company at Niskayuna, New York and retired from there as a Specialist in Test Operations and an Engineering Analyst.

On July 20, 1947 he married Theresa Marie LePage and together they had six children- Denise, Guy, Christine, Raymond and Teresa. He is survived by several grandchildren (some who also serve). His son, Guy served in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot (U.S. Army) and three of his brothers also served in WWII: Conrad, Joseph, & Lawrence Demers.
